Stinging nettle is a very good biological fertilizer because it not only strengthens the immune system of the plants, but also works against pests and diseases. Once set, you can use the nettle slurry again and again to fertilize your eggplants every 14 days. This then ensures a good and healthy growth of the eggplants and a good harvest.

How to make nettle slurry:

❶ You need a large container with a lid (e.g. a rain barrel) to make the nettle slurry. Put as many nettles as you want in this jar. Small hint: for the liquid manure you need 1 kilogram of fresh nettles per 10 liters of water. Then you have to pour in enough water until the nettles are covered and put the lid on.

❷ Then you have to let the mixture stand for about three to four weeks and stir it daily. During this time, the smell-intensive fermentation takes place, during which bubbles rise. If none of them rise, the fermentation process is complete.

❸ When the nettle slurry is ready, you can use it directly as an organic fertilizer. To do this, you must first strain the liquid manure. Then add 1 liter of nettle slurry to 10 liters of water and water the eggplants every 10 to 14 days. The high nitrogen content of the nettles then ensures that your eggplants develop splendidly.
