Chia energy bars are quickly prepared

It has been one of the most important foods in South America for thousands of years and continues to provide energy and endurance to many Andean inhabitants - what is meant by the chia plant. The seeds of this plant are full of nutrients, vitamins and fiber and were already used by the Maya to provide messengers and scouts with energy during their long marches over days and weeks.

Today, chia seeds serve everyone who likes to eat healthy and want to strengthen their endurance and energy reserves, for example, without having to resort to industrial bars or protein sources. You don't have to buy chia energy bars. You can also easily make the healthy alternative to the sweet granola bar, which often provides more sugar than nutrients anyway.

Make energy bars with chia seeds yourself

Chia energy bars can be put together according to your taste. So you always have a healthy snack at hand when exercising or during lunch.

➤ Ingredients (for a tray):

  • 1 l milk or soy milk or other milk substitute
  • 250 g milk rice
  • 250 g of dried fruit such as raisins, dates, apricots, cranberries
  • 1 tbsp sugar, honey or agave syrup
  • 3 tbsp chia seeds
  • Cinnamon or cocoa at will

➤ Preparation:

First of all, you have to bring the milk to the boil with a pinch of salt. Then stir in the rice pudding and cook until soft, stirring constantly. Then sweeten with sugar or honey or agave syrup and, if necessary, add some cinnamon or cocoa and stir. Finally add the fruit and the chia seeds (cut larger fruits such as dates and apricots into small pieces beforehand) and mix everything well.

Place baking paper on a baking sheet and then spread the mass onto it with a thumb. Then sprinkle sunflower seeds, sesame or chia seeds on top and bake in a preheated oven at 150 ° C for about 30 minutes.

Then let the mass cool and cut into pieces. Then wrap the bars in aluminum foil. You can now store them in the fridge or freeze them. The energy bars only last in the fridge for two to three days.
